Description

Tidal River Management (controlled flooding and sedimentation) in the coastal zone of Bangladesh is seen by many engineers as an interesting concept to allow the land surface level to keep up with sea level rise and keep the rivers alive. In several polder areas, the concept is developed and is in different stages of implementation. Researchers and practitioners can learn from these implementations by carefully monitoring and assessing the impacts of TRM implementation on the environment and the people living in the project areas. In this session, researchers and practitioners with technical, sociological and institutional backgrounds will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of potential (future) TRM implementation in Bangladesh.
