The coast of Bangladesh is vulnerable to cyclonic storm surges: in the last 60 years there have been 23 cyclonic storm surges. Currently, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) is able to forecast the upcoming cyclone track, making crucial information available and thus heloing the local communities to migrate to safe places in the event of storm surges. Cyclonic Storm Models, recently developed through a flexible mesh system, the essence of this session, help to assess disasters and exposure at polder and community level. In this session the logic and applicability of the Model will be discussed.
